Fire fighters Battle Building Fire Throughout the Night.
At 21:36hrs on the 16/04/2012 Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service received a call to a building fire in Newland, just outside of Coleford.
Two fire engines initially attended the incident from Coleford station, upon arrival crews immediately requested a further two fire appliances along with a aerial ladder appliance from Gloucester station. Shortly after this due to the escalating scale of the fire further resources were requested. A total of forty seven fire fighters, 6 fire engines, an aerial ladder appliance, a water carrier, the breathing apparatus tender and a damage control unit all attended this incident throughout the night.
Fire fighters were faced with a large three storey building of approximately 30m x 15m with all floors a blaze. They utilised the aerial ladder platform and four jets to fight the flames. The property was in the process of being renovated and thankfully nobody was in there at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is not yet identified and further investigations will be carried out in due course. A great deal of resources were utilised throughout the night but crews worked efficiently to tackle this large scale incident.
